The Path upward
I started Vectored Ascent because I reached a point where the old man just wasn’t cutting it anymore. I was spending too much time on things that didn’t matter. I was wasting too many hours and I had too many days where I just didn’t feel like I was moving forward or progressing.
I had separated my professional life from my personal life. I work as an Agilist and Project Manager and somehow the servant leadership and organization I live by at work had become disconnected from my personal and family life. I wanted a life anchored in discipline, purpose, and faith — not noise, distraction, or entertainment.
So I made the commitment to change and improve!
I began this climb toward improvement and right now it might look a bit clumsy and imperfect. But every day I am getting a little better. I know that accountability makes us stronger and keeps us on track. So I decided to document the journey – and anyone who wants to come along is welcome!
Vectored Ascent is where I document the climb.
Why “Vectored Ascent”?
A vector has direction.
Ascent means upward climb.
This journey isn’t random or chaotic. It’s totally intentional and directed. It’s rooted in the belief that we were created for excellence.
What You’ll Find Here
This is a real-time record of what I’m learning as I work to become a better person:
- The Path: Core systems and frameworks that actually work and have become part of the Vectored Ascent
- Habits: Useful habits that (hopefully) stick
- Systems: Formal and informal systems that create order in our life
- Journal: Honest insights from my experiences – the good days and the difficult ones as well as practical experiments in simplifying and improving our lives.
If you’re working to grow as a person — to reclaim focus, strengthen your character, or live with more intention — you’ll feel at home here. None of us are perfect, but many of us want to be the best WE can be. I hope my journey will be of help to you in your own “Vectored Ascent”.
“Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain”
