about
Hi, I’m Dan King, an Agilist and writer with a passion for improvement. I believe that we can change our lives through iterative development – and make them great!
The Long bio
“I help people unlock their potential and design intentional lives by combining introspection, purposeful action, and systems-based personal development.”
For a number of years now, I’ve been fascinated by how people grow—how they learn, adapt, overcome challenges, and ultimately become the best version of themselves. My own career has taken me through several transformations which all shaped the way I think and respond to change. I spent over a decade as a web and software application developer, half of that again as a Senior Scrum Master, through to today as a project leader guiding multiple software teams. Each chapter has taught me something new about resilience, intentional growth, and the mindset required to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
I serve as a Senior Scrum Master and Project Manager, working closely with software teams to deliver products with real value and purpose. But behind every sprint, every product roadmap, and every retrospective are people. Most of them are like me, trying to grow, find balance, and do fulfilling work. I suppose that’s the part of my job I love most: helping people develop the confidence, skills, and mindset to navigate complexity with clarity. Whether it’s facilitating better communication, breaking down overwhelming amounts of work, or coaching someone through a leadership challenge, I see every interaction as an opportunity for personal transformation.

With a degree in English and a background in technical communication, I focus on making complex ideas simple, clear, and actionable. I chose the name Vectored Ascent because I see my mission as a direct upward path to improvement, both for myself and those around me. I help people build the lives and careers they want through intentional reflection, continuous learning, and practical strategies grounded in real-world experience (and a little dreaming here and there). I believe anyone can grow—deeply, sustainably, and purposefully—when they understand how to design their path.
My journey has been one of personal evolution as much as professional development. Agile thinking opened my eyes to something deeper and more personal than process or frameworks: the power of continuous improvement. The same principles I help my teams apply—inspect, adapt, experiment, reflect—have shaped the way I approach life, leadership, and learning. To me, Agile is not just a work methodology; it’s a blueprint for building a healthier, more productive, and more meaningful life. It’s something I use daily to make incremental improvements in my and my families’ life.
If you identify with any of the above, you’ve found your community. I hope we can be of help to you in your own “Vectored Ascent”.
